The left mill is of wormy butternut (limited quantities available) and the mill on the right is filled with turquoise. Each features the valve top. Pepper Mills have an adjustable stainless steel mechanism, and the salt mill features a ceramic mechanism. All mills are finished with “Polycryl®”for easy care. Let us know if this size is to your liking, and what wood you prefer. Since each pair does require days to complete, be aware that additional time will be required for these mills. As far as we know, George is the only one who has created mills with these valve top tops. While this pair has been sold, it is an example of our Valve Top Mill Pairs. The pepper mill was turned of spaulted maple with walnut accents at the top and bottom it is 8 ½” tall and 2 5/8” across the base with an adjustable stainless steel mechanism. The salt mill turned of the same woods, and is slightly smaller at 7” tall and 2 ¾” across the base with a ceramic mechanism. Each features a “valve” handle top for easy grinding, and the wood is finished with “Polycryl®”for easy care. You can have a similar set in any of our available woods by contacting us and discussing your options. Some folks like having a pair of mills that are the same woods, but different tops. In this instance the customer liked the “Antique” Style Pepper Mill with the Valve Top Salt Mill.
In this case, the main wood is Butternut, with vertical accents of Purple Heart, a base of Black Walnut and top rim of Padauk. Our mills are priced to reflect the wood (s) involved and the mechanism chosen. This pair has been sold but we can create a pair for you. The price shown is for a similarly mixed set.
This line of mills features tops repurposed from actual fishing reels. The wood is dyed birch, and available in several colors, with wood that accents the dyed birch simulating fishing line. The pepper mill is stainless steel and adjustable. The companion salt mill is ceramic. Typically the mills measure 6 ¼” high and 2 7/8” across the base. The wood on these mills is finished with “Polycryl®”. Each is signed, dated, the wood is identified, and given a number that is recorded in our database. The photo shows this pair in a blue.
